We are honored that you chose our hospital for your health care needs, and we want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Our Lady of the Angels Hospital is committed to the principles on which Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady was built – extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to all those who seek its services.

The history of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady began in 1911 when six Sisters from the Franciscan Sisters of Calais, France arrived in Louisiana to expand their healing ministry. Two years later in 1913, St. Francis Sanitarium opened in Monroe. The St. Francis Sanitarium and Training School for nurses, was the first hospital and nursing school in northeastern Louisiana. In 1921 the Sisters were invited to open a sanitarium in Baton Rouge. Our Lady of the Lake Sanitarium was dedicated in 1923. Our Lady of the Lourdes in Lafayette was opened in 1949. St. Elizabeth’s Hospital was opened in 2002 and Our Lady of the Angels March 17, 2014. Many decades later, the congregation of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady remains strongly committed to its ministry of health and spiritual wellness, serving all of God’s people through their ministry of healthcare.

It is a privilege to serve the people of Bogalusa, Washington Parish, and this region.
